Okanagan model sailboat association races their boats down by the lagoons in Kelowna. These model sailboats are fun to watch, and the way they knife through the water gives an indication of the speeds they attain. I wonder if there are model catamarans?

The largest privately owned sailboat in the world, the Maltese Falcon arrives under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Owner Tom Perkins has brought her here to get outfitted for a submarine, his latest interest. While her, the Maltese Falcon will participate in the SFYC Leukemia Cup Regatta ( http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/regatta/hm_reg )on Oct 4&5th before she heads south for the winter in the Caribbean.

For instance, a commercial fishing vessel will have the right of way over a yacht in most cases. The sailing boat has the right of way over a motorboat. If 2 cruising yachts are sailing in the opposite direction, right of way is given to the vessel on the starboard tack (wind blowing over the right side of the yacht) unless there is a dangerous and obvious impediment. One boat passing another must give way to the boat it is overtaking.

In order to keep the waterways secure and relaxing for everybody, it is a sound idea to research your boat and the rules that you should follow when operating your boat. Learning all you need to know about boats and yachting can be fun. However, jumping aboard and turning the key without any genuine understanding of the natural and man made worlds that become combined puts everyone, and your investment, in jeopardy. We play on the Charles River as the crowds gather for 4th of July festivities. Our extremely portable sailboat allows us to arrive on foot with our boat in a couple of bags.
