Okanagan model sailboat association races their boats down by the lagoons in Kelowna. These model sailboats are fun to watch, and the way they knife through the water gives an indication of the speeds they attain. I wonder if there are model catamarans?

Night R/C Speed Boating!

When Eric and Bob came to visit and fly with us, we talked Eric into putting lights on his boat and race it around the pond. He was game and here are the results. Jeff and Mary were on hand as spectators. I ran the camera and this is how it went.

Jet boat racers hit the upper Rogue River. There where 20 boats that started and only 12 finished. This has got to be one of the best races to watch other than Idaho! The engines ranged from big block chevys and fords to the sportjet mercury 6. The race hulls are made from aluminum. Most boats run the Amercian Turbine pumps with race nozzles. The rollbars which we sometimes mount the cameras are made of chromolly steel.

Wrecked! Jet Boat Racing Nightmare…( Part 2)

The recovery of how 12 guys got a sunken race boat back from the Salmon River in Riggins Idaho that had sunk earlier during the racing event, It was perched on a ledge above a 60 foot hole in the river. Highway 95 Idaho’s only north to south highway was temporaily closed to allow a tow truck to lower cables from off the bridge. It took 2 boats,1 Tow Truck, and 12 men to get the boat back onto the trailer safely. During the second leg of the Idaho Salmon Cup #16 (Wocket) did a barrel roll in some of the worst whitewater possible on the race course,the rapid is called TIME ZONE.
