who built Apollo fiberglass boats in 1975?
I bought a 1975 20′ Apollo power boat. Just curious who built them and if they are still in production.
In the 60′s and 70′s there were 1,543,682 boat manufacturers in the US alone! (my count may be a bit off, but therewere a lot more than today). Many of the smaller builders were bought up buy the big guys, and some just "sailed away!"
The Apollo may have been more than one companies model. I do remember an AMF "Crestliner Apollo" a friend owned in about ’79. It was a 21′ with a cuddy. Nice boat.
Up until 1972, there weren’t any tough registraion laws, or boat ID laws. By 1972/3/4, boat manufacturesr were required to ID each boat with a serial # and a data/capacity plate. Some had already been doing that. I have a ’65 Island Maid boat with both an ID and Data plate, and a ’72 ArrowGlass that has (and never had) either!
You should have a data plate on yours that will give more info. I doubt seriously if ANY boat model built in the 70′s is still in production.
