What sort of batter(ies) should I use in my power boat?

For a powerboat that is about 25ft in length, what type of battery should be used? Currently our boat has 1 deep cycle and 1 regular battery (both Interstate, if that matters) but I’ve been told by someone today that I should use 2 deep cycle batteries instead. Keep in mind that we have a depth finder, dvd player and flat screen, stereo etc and we use these when we anchor in the water overnight, so we are using the batteries at night for long periods of time.
A deep cycle to run your accessories and a start battery for your engine, just what you have. Your engine should be set up to charge both. Do not set your system up so you can us both battery to power your accessories ’cause when you drain then down to the point you can’t start your engine (and you will) ….. well lesson learned after you pay for the tow.

Do gas-powered boat laws apply to radio controled boats?

State is Virginia. Certain bodies of water don’t allow gas powered watercraft. It would seem that this would apply to r/c boats with nitro or 2-cycle fuel motors but I cant find anything specifically addressing it.

My husband and I are searching for a used runabout (for cruising fresh waters and skiing/wakeboarding). we want to finance it so it cannot be more than 7 years old. what are the best brands to buy used (most reliable)? Our budget is no more than 25k. We want at least 20ft but would consider 18ft if right boat. Where is best place to look? At dealers or on internet? I cannot seem to find anything decent on craigs list (just old boats).
Look at "Boat Trader" and check online at Boat US.com. Lot’s of boats there. Be sure to get a Marine Survey and an "On the Water" test drive before putting any money down. If you like the boat, make the sale "Contingent" on the marine survey report. You pay for the report and not the seller. Some good brands are Sea Ray, Malibu, Master Craft, Wellcraft, Maxum, Cobalt, Tigre’, Donzi, Formula and Regal. I personally own two Sea Rays and have owned the 21′ Sport boat since ’98. The 26′ Express Cruiser since ’02. They have been excellent boats and have a perfect record of service for me. The dealer is great and takes good care of my boats.
